Wow. What an interesting read. Thank you for sharing this. I wrote about the power of sound in my newletter this week, but form a slightly different perspective. I really enjoyed reading about the power pf sound across the different cultures- fascinating.
I was lucky enough to experience a floating sound bath recently and it did indeed tick all those boxes.
We lay on floating air beds on top of the water, covered with a blanket and eye mask, drifting to the sound of the pool water gently overflowing into the drain. Then the sound bowls began, and before my cousin and I knew it, an hour had passed and it was time to get out. We both felt fully relaxed and recharged.
The experience was so relaxing that I now listen to sound bowls before bed. It is not quite as relaxing listening to the bowls through my headphones compared to the floating sound bath… but it does help to promote a peaceful sleep. I am also planning to invest in my own sound bowls this year and learning to play them.
I’m glad it resonates. And thank you for sharing your story, I think most people are as interested as you are when they experience it. Also, I understand that you have a different perspective. Sound is so multi-faceted that it must be looked at through different lenses.
I think your investment will be so much worth it :)
The way you make cultural depth feel accessible is rare, I’d be curious to hear how you translate these insights into practices your readers can experience daily.
Thank you! In some of my articles I actually have already translated these insights into some practices. For example, in my newest article about the Montenegrin art of moving through life unhurried :) And I also always try to give some practices based on the insights :)
